Human emotion- slightly exaggerated.

Here are three out of way too many photos in my latest escapade of simple portraiture. Before and following my recent addiction to the works of Richard Avedon, I have always loved simplicity and how it can bring something out, like a product, emotion, phrase, punchline, etc. In these specific few shots I think we can start to feel something inside even though all we are seeing are ears, eyes, noses and mouths. Maybe hair too.

Art in the place next to the big auditorium.

I think the guy's name is Doug Campbell that brought such vibrancy (is that a word?) to the little hall some people walk through when sliding and running. Whoever the guy is, I've got to hand it to him because he is really talented. His latest offerings of stripped down colors and the photo-to-canvas medium struck me as something I could do in another lifetime. Candid portraiture has got to be the most out of the box thing a painter can do these days.

Pottery

Pottery. Honestly pottery doesn't amaze me all that much! Lopsided bowls no one even eats cereal out of. I don't understand people that make pottery. What are they called? Potters? Seeing the gallery in Hoover didn't change things too much for me, but I was at least entertained. The style I saw running amok the recent designs was that of textures not found in pottery. So alas, there were pots that didn't look like pots. One even looked like a lava sperm slug. How it is a pot or how it crawled in to try and act like a pot, who knows, but most people stayed away from it. There was a pot big enough for a tear drop or maybe even a single squished olive, and it was from Yeshua's day. Now that was a spectacle. Maybe they knew how to survive on much less. It also brings a newfound fascination for Hanukkah- it must have been reaaaally hard for that oil to last 8 days.

Photos for Monday the 14th (text)

I'm still trying to figure out how to format this site here... But here's my first batch of pictures. A bit of color correction because the color of the lights vs. the setting of my camera didn't mix well.
Comments would be appreciated. And I destroyed a pair of pants taking these shots.
